About The Area
The school is located in Vilas County, in rustic northeastern Wisconsin. It is near the communities of Manitowish Waters, Presqe Isle, and Boulder Junction. All three are resort towns, serving the recreation industry in Wisconsin’s North Woods. All three are within or near the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest.
This beautiful area has plenty of opportunities for outdoor enjoyment, as well as for student employment, housing, and life. During the summer, the North Woods are one of the most popular vacation areas for visitors from Chicago, Milwaukee, and Minneapolis. In the winter, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and other winter sports are popular.
Towns with major services, shopping, and industry are at Ironwood, MI, Eagle River, WI, Rhinelander, WI, and Minocqua, WI. Minocqua is about 20 miles from the school. The others are about 40 miles from the school.
The nearest city is Wausau, WI, approximately 80 miles away.
Since the school is in a rural setting, a reliable car is recommended. Airports with commercial service are located in Ironwood, MI, Eagle River, WI, Rhinelander, WI, and Minocqua, WI. Minocqua is about 20 miles from the school; the others are about 40 miles from the school.
